A few days ago Microsoft has released Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, so that every laptop user can know for sure whether the laptop and its accessories has met the minimum requirements to run Windows 7 or not. You can try it on your laptop by downloading the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC), with earlier you must run the upgrade advisor first before installing the RC.
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor can be downloaded here. These tools will help ensure that you have a laptop which already meet the minimum requirements to operate Windows 7, and the next part of the minimum requirements to be in check:
- 1 GHz or more, 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1GB of RAM (32-bit) / 2GB of RAM (64-bit)
- 16GB of available disk space (32-bit) / 20GB (64-bit)
- DirectX ® 9 graphics processor with WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) 1.0 or higher
Some laptop users might say his laptop meets all the requirements just by reading it, but Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will not only check the points above, but also will check the compatibility of peripherals and accessories you have with all the features of Windows 7 that available.
This was a step most of Microsoft's response to consumer frustration and complaining about the difficulty of using a number of printers, scanners, and other peripherals in order to work properly on Windows Vista. It is expected that the Upgrade Advisor tool this laptop users can make sure first before using the Windows 7 that did not happen as the constraints that have happened before.
